Who We Are

Prerna Urban Rural and Educational Development Society was established in 2011 with a clear vision to empower women, children, and underprivileged communities.

The organization was founded by Priscilla and co-founded by Tukaram Hembade, driven by a strong commitment to social transformation through education, self-employment, and comprehensive welfare initiatives.

Since its inception, the society has consistently worked toward the economic and social upliftment of women by promoting and strengthening Self-Help Groups (SHGs). To date, we have successfully formed more than 500 SHGs, enabling women to access bank loans, understand financial planning, ensure proper utilization of funds, and adopt responsible repayment practices.

Through these sustained efforts, many women have achieved financial independence, enhanced self-confidence, and the ability to effectively manage their own income-generating activities.

What We Do

OUR ORPHANAGE & ASHRAM FOR NEEDY CHILDREN

At present, our organization is running an Orphanage and Ashram where we are taking care of 35 orphan children and 10 visually challenged (blind) people’s.
We provide them with:
* Free education
* Free food
* Free shelter
* Medical care and treatment
* Emotional, mental, and moral support

Many of these children come from extremely poor backgrounds or are born to widowed, illiterate, or helpless mothers. Some children are abandoned or have no one to take responsibility for them. These are the children whom no one is ready to accept or support.

Our organization identifies such orphaned, abandoned, and single-parent children and brings them under our care. We ensure that they receive proper education from Class 1 to Class 12 along with values, discipline, and life skills so that they can build a bright and independent future.

Along with Academic Education, We focus on:

* Moral and Spiritual Guidance
* Personality Development
* Emotional Healing and Confidence Building

Our aim is not only to provide shelter but to shape their future by giving them hope, direction, and a chance to live with dignity.

We strongly believe that:
Every child deserves love, care, education, and a bright future, irrespective of their background.
Through this initiative, we are working to transform the lives of:
* Orphan Children
* Children of Single Parents
* Children from Extremely Poor Families
* Children who are Neglected or Abandoned

We are committed to protecting these children from exploitation, child labor, and social neglect, and guiding them towards a meaningful and successful life.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Our organization provides free vocational and skill development training for women and youth, including:

All training programs are conducted free of cost, and participants are awarded certificates after completion of the courses. These programs help women start self-employment and improve their family income.

WE DO:

Counselling & Educational Support

We provide:
* Free counselling for school and college-going students
* Career guidance and motivation support
* Free counselling for women and couples
* Our counselling services aim to support emotional well-being, education continuity, and family harmony.

Sanitation & Community Development

With the support of the Infosys Foundation, our organization has contributed to the construction of toilets in rural areas, improving sanitation and hygiene conditions for families.

Health Services & Awareness

We organize:
* General health care centers and medical camps
* Rural health awareness programs in different villages
* Health education sessions for families and women
* These programs focus on improving awareness about hygiene, nutrition, and preventive health care.
